Bogatay Family | Colton’s First Birthday Portraits at Robin Hill Park

A Fall Milestone Session Focused on Connection, Simplicity, and Legacy

There is something incredibly special about photographing families as they grow, and this session with the Bogatay family was no exception. As a Pittsburgh Family Photographer, I’ve had the joy of working with Katelyn and Austin since their engagement session. Since then, I’ve watched their story unfold in the most meaningful ways. Colton’s first birthday portraits felt like a celebration of how far their family has come.

We photographed this milestone session at Robin Hill Park in Coraopolis, which offered the most beautiful fall foliage. The warm tones of the season paired perfectly with the family’s cream and brown outfit palette. To keep the focus on connection, we kept props simple and intentional. A gold foil number one balloon and a classic white rocking chair added just enough detail without distracting from Colton’s expressions and curiosity.

In addition to birthday portraits, we also included family photographs during the session. This allowed us to capture everyone together in this chapter of their lives. First birthdays mark such a tender transition, and documenting the family dynamic alongside the milestone makes the images even more meaningful. Colton’s personality shined as he explored, smiled, and interacted with his parents in such natural ways.

As a Pittsburgh Family Photographer, my goal is to build lasting relationships with the families I photograph. I want to be more than someone who shows up for milestones. I aim to be a legacy photographer who documents growth, connection, and change over time. Sessions like this one remind me why that work matters so deeply.

These portraits capture more than a birthday. They preserve a season of life that will never come again, yet will always be remembered.
