A Plum PA Mommy and Me Photographer focuses on connection rather than perfect posing. Mothers often step behind the camera during their child’s first year. This session gave one mom the chance to step into the frame.
I photographed this summer portrait session at Boyce Park in Plum. The park offers open light, tall grass, and a gently sloping hill that photographs beautifully at sunset. It remains one of my favorite outdoor locations because the setting feels quiet and natural.
This mother is also one of my closest friends, which made the session even more meaningful. I first documented this chapter of their story during her maternity session at Moraine State Park. Now I had the chance to photograph her with the baby she was waiting for.
She wanted portraits together with her almost one-year-old son and simple outdoor images for his first birthday. We kept the setup minimal. I brought a blanket for seated moments and a small wooden rocking chair sized perfectly for him.
Her son explored constantly. He crawled through the grass, held her hands while standing, and laughed when she lifted him into the air. I guided them through simple prompts instead of formal poses. The movement created genuine expressions and relaxed photographs. A Plum PA Mommy and Me Photographer aims to capture how motherhood actually feels, not just how it looks.
I also help parents plan how to use their images after the session. Many families begin with maternity portraits and continue documenting milestones. You can see how I prepare families on my Portrait Planning Guide.
This session celebrated two milestones at once. It preserved the bond between a mother and her baby and documented his first birthday season in a simple, timeless way.
A Plum PA Mommy and Me Photographer helps families remember the small stages that pass the fastest.
