Some of the greatest joy in my career comes from photographing the same people through multiple seasons of their lives. I first met this couple for their engagement session years ago. Soon after, I photographed their wedding day, and this fall we met again for Hartwood Acres family portraits, and seeing them now as parents felt especially meaningful — this time with their little boy in their arms. Getting to witness that kind of life change is something I never take for granted. Legacy clients, families who continue to trust me as their lives grow and evolve, are what make this work so meaningful to me.
We planned their session at Hartwood Acres during peak fall color. The soft light and open lawn created a calm, relaxed setting that felt perfect for a family of three. Their son completely stole the show. He had the sweetest smiles and a curiosity about everything around him. Instead of forcing stillness, we let him explore, laugh, and interact with his parents.
That is always when the most genuine images happen.
Family sessions at this stage of life move quickly. Children change fast, and a single year can look completely different from the last. These photographs become markers of time, small reminders of who your child was in this fleeting season.
Hartwood Acres is one of my favorite locations for family portraits because it gives families space to slow down together. The beautiful architecture and surrounding fields create a timeless backdrop without feeling formal or stiff. If you are considering scheduling family portraits in Pittsburgh, this location is always a wonderful choice.
I feel incredibly grateful when couples invite me back into their lives again and again. Photographing engagements, weddings, and now parenthood is more than a service. It is a relationship, and it is truly the part of this career that makes me happiest.
