That’s why I’ve compiled some tips to help you plan the best family portrait outfits.

Plan Your Clothing Ahead!

Once you’ve booked your family photo session, it’s time to start thinking about what everyone is going to wear. Make sure that all outfits are clean, fit well, and are ready to go a few days before the session. Avoid any last-minute stress by trying on clothes ahead of time to ensure they still fit.

Coordinate colors, don’t match!

Gone are the days of matching white t-shirts and jeans for family photos. Allow your family’s personality to shine by picking a color palette of two to three colors and coordinating outfits that match the scheme. Stores like Target and Gap often have coordinating outfits for kids.

Look at your home

A great way to determine your color palette is to look at the colors you’ve chosen for your home decor. You’ll want these pictures displayed in your living room, so why not make sure the colors match?

Limit patterns

Choose one outfit that has a pattern with most of the colors in your color scheme. Then, it will be easy to choose coordinating colors for the rest of the family. Avoid patterns on everyone’s outfits to keep the focus on your family.
