As a Plum Newborn Photographer, I photograph many milestones, but some sessions feel deeply personal.
This in-home lifestyle newborn session featured a family I have known since childhood. I recently shared their Hartwood Acres maternity session, and photographing their baby completed the story that began months earlier.
We met as children while playing outside our apartment complex and stayed close through every stage of life. Now we raise our children at the same time. Documenting this season for their family means more to me than simply creating portraits.
Their home created the perfect setting for a relaxed newborn session. Lifestyle sessions center on connection rather than complicated posing. We worked slowly and used natural window light throughout the house. The parents held their baby close, rocked gently, and admired each small detail.
A Plum Newborn Photographer also captures the environment families carefully prepare. The nursery carried a whimsical literary theme, filled with books and thoughtful décor. Every detail reflected excitement and anticipation for their new baby. One sentimental piece stood out to me. A gift I had given them years ago now hangs in the nursery and fits the space perfectly.
I help families prepare using my In-Home Session Prep Guide. I also encourage printing photographs. The Professional Photographers of America
explains that children develop a stronger sense of belonging when they grow up seeing family images displayed at home.
This session reminded me why photography matters. It preserves both memories and relationships.
A Plum Newborn Photographer does more than photograph a baby. I help families hold onto the beginning of their child’s story.

I offer both lifestyle newborn studio sessions and in-home lifestyle newborn sessions. Learn more about my Newborn & Family Photography services here.
